Our Board of Directors volunteer to support our organization’s important work in Haiti.
We’re committed to upholding LFBS’s values, accountability and transparency with nonprofit good governance. Our work includes: managing financials, developing policies, applying for grants, fundraising and connecting with our donors and supporters.
Nicole Deyell
Interim Board Chair
Nicole has over 25 years of experience in the energy industry as a senior leader and an engineer. She has worked at companies ranging from start-ups to large multinationals and has experience in Canada and overseas. Her volunteer work has so far focused on children through work supporting school and literacy organizations. Nicole earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary and is a member of APEGA.

Russ Aitchison
Director & Chair, Building Project Committee
Russ’s commitment and enthusiasm began when he traveled to Haiti as a volunteer, building a house for two of our families, and continued when he returned to meet the staff and families he so energetically champions as a Director of the Board. Russ was with Toronto Fire Services for 30 years and retired in 2018 as Captain. He also has owned and operated his own business for the past 26 years and extends his experiences and insights to LFBS.

Johnny St-Ilma
Director
Johnny St-Ilma currently works in Program Administration and Liaison Management in the Canadian federal government where he and his team provide support to governance committees and strengthen Government of Canada governance integration.
Johnny’s previous positions include leading various projects and teams of industry professionals who provided advice and guidance on resiliency and the design and implementation of disaster recovery and business resumption planning in the information management and technology field. He has also worked in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to advance opportunities and break down barriers for equity seeking groups.
Johnny St-Ilma has a postgraduate diploma in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool, Master of Science in Business Continuity, Security and Emergency Management (MSc) and a diploma in Business Continuity Management from Bucks New University. He is a certified Professional in Physical Security (PSP), a Member of the Business Continuity Institute (MBCI) and has a certification in Enterprise Risk Management (CRM-E). Johnny is also a graduate of McKinsey and Co. black executive leadership program.
He is an avid golfer, loves cooking and is actively engaged in providing mentorship.

Sina Faraji
Director
Sina is a lawyer from Montreal practicing in the areas of corporate and commercial law. His practice focuses primarily on commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and infrastructure projects and public-private partnerships. Sina holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology from McGill University as well as a Bachelor of Laws and a Juris Doctor from the University of Montreal. Prior to being a lawyer, Sina worked in consulting, specializing in operations performance.
Sina is committed to giving back to his community which has led him to join the board of LFBS. As a board member, he brings a wealth of expertise, strategic thinking and strong communication skills to the table. Sina is passionate about making a real impact and is committed to working collaboratively with other board members to achieve this objective.

Jasmine Do
Director
Jasmine is a first-generation Vietnamese immigrant with over 20 years of advocacy for survivors of human trafficking. In her past NGO roles, including a Team Lead with Habitat for Humanity and Board Member with Family Services, she adamantly promoted child safety and anti-human trafficking. Jasmine has traveled to Vietnam, Dominican Republic, India, Brazil, and Africa, where she worked with orphanages to improve childcare services. Jasmine was also a Lead Research Assistant on a study exploring human trafficking prevention, and was invited to present data at the Qualitative Conference in St John’s Newfoundland. Her certifications encompass Tri-Council Policy Statement, International Human Rights Law, and Justice at HarvardX. Jasmine is currently a designated Arbitrator. With 10 plus years as a Director of Operations in a digital marketing company, she looks forward to bringing her experience to help further LFBS’ initiatives.

Alexia Odibo
Director
Alexia brings extensive experience in the international development sector. She attained her Masters Degree in International Development from the University of Kent, where she focused her studies on gender based violence during war times in Africa. Since completing her Degree, she has gained extensive experience leading and managing community health programs across Africa for various international non-governmental organizations. Alexia also brings experience developing resource mobilization strategies and implementing action plans. She is excited to lend her expertise in community programming to LFBS.

Sarah Forrest
Director
Sarah has worked in the non-profit and NGO sector for over 10 years, both in Canada and internationally, on a variety of human rights issues including child protection, gender equality, and refugee resettlement and education. She has extensive experience in program management, resource mobilization, communications, and strategic planning. Sarah holds a Master’s in Human Security and Peacebuilding from Royal Roads University, a Bachelor of Arts in Community, Economic and Social Development from Algoma University, and a Certificate in Business, International Relations and the Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is dedicated to creating transformative social change and is excited to be supporting LFBS’ vision.
