Celebrate your friends and loved ones with LFBS this holiday season
This holiday season, give the gift of hope.
In Haiti, many people are already living in extremely vulnerable conditions. Factor in the high cost of living, rising violence, and economic insecurity, and the holidays do not always feel like a very cheerful time.
This year, hundreds of thousands of children are internally displaced due to political instability and gang violence. The mass displacement has caused an immense strain on services, particularly in the communities we serve. With growing levels of hunger, and inadequate access to shelter, healthcare, and education, many will find themselves increasingly at risk.
But you can help change that.
You can make a difference. You can make a difference this holiday season through shopping our holiday collection. Give the gift of a safe home and hope to the children and families we work with, in honour of the people who matter to you most.
Pair of Shoes
CA$20.00
While always striving toward creating opportunities for self-sufficiency, at the same time we support the immediate needs of our beneficiaries whether they be medical, housing, nutritional, or material. Sometimes, it’s as simple as a pair of shoes. Your gift will ensure a child can attend school or a parent can get to work.
Livestock
CA$130.00
Our livestock farming programming promotes increased health and nutrition. Your gift will equip a program participant with the livestock of their choosing, and enable LFBS to provide tools, training, resources and materials. This support enables our beneficiaries to increase their family’s personal food security and sell animal products at the market for income, which promotes a path to sustainability.
Small Business Start-Up
CA$700.00
Our business start-up programming addresses family separation through supporting parents in the creation of income generating opportunities in their communities. Your gift will ensure program participants are equipped with a micro loan and the materials for the small business of their choosing, trained in financial literacy and business management, and set up with peer networks to foster peer support and learning.
Hospital Visit
CA$60.00
We believe healthy children live in healthy communities. Working together with local partners and authorities, we coordinate medical and mental health support, emergency interventions, and operations. Your gift will allow a child or their family member to access medical support and contribute to their overall well-being.
Emergency kit
CA$250.00
In addition to our regular programming, we provide emergency relief when it is necessary. Your gift will provide a child and their family with the essentials- bedding, clothes, hygiene supplies, and food items- while we work together with them to develop a plan for self-sufficiency.
Agriculture Kit
CA$100.00
Our farming programming promotes increased food security and personal health. Your gift will equip a program participant with seeds and the tools, training, resources and materials to grow food crops. This support enables our beneficiaries to increase personal food security, and sell produce at the market for income.
School supplies & Tuition
CA$500.00
Our Education & Vocational Training programming provides valuable support to children in primary and secondary school, right through to students at the post-secondary level. Your gift will support school registration, tuition, uniforms, books and supplies, and literacy tutoring. Supporting education and training is the ultimate investment in Haiti’s future.
Your gift will be used where it is needed most, in one of our thematic programming areas of child well-being and development, family and community development, advocacy of child rights, and community health.
We work with local and national authorities to reunify separated children with their families or find alternative, community-based care. The children who are referred to LFBS by Haitian authorities are most often rescued from emergency situations, including corrupt and abusive institutions that authorities are shutting down, domestic slavery, and dangerous street conditions.
Once we have traced a child’s family, our reunification process involves assessing the family’s overall state of vulnerability, and developing a plan for family strengthening. This requires making sure that a child has access to education, nutrition and medical care, but most importantly addressing the root cause of why that child was separated from his or her family in the first place, which for the majority of families is poverty.
This holiday season, give a gift that contributes to addressing the root causes of family separation and empowers children and their families with resources and opportunities to build a self-sufficient future.
